Jannell Motors was founded in 1921 by Joseph L. Jannell in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Due to Joe's expert machinist talents, Ford offered him a franchise in 1933. Jannell Motors is one of the oldest Ford family-run dealerships in the US. Joe passed the franchise to his son-in-law, James Clapp, who continued the family tradition and leadership in the 50's 60's and 70's.

His sons Ned and Joe, now principle dealers continue their long standing relationship and commitment to the community. Under their leadership, they moved the principle location of the dealership in 1993 to Hanover in order to better serve their customers, and continuing auto body and car rentals in Weymouth. Jannell now enjoys the reputation of being the hub of the South Shore automotive industry.
